The cylinder liner has the following functions.
1. Form a sliding surface
Lubricating oil acts on the inner wall of the cylinder, forming sliding surfaces on the piston and piston rings for the reciprocating motion of the piston.
2. Maintain airtightness
Prevent the leakage of compressed air and combustion gases inside the cylinder.
3. Thermal conduction
Release the combustion heat into the coolant through the piston and piston ring.
Structure and Characteristics
In order to reduce excessive wear and scratches, most cylinder liner inner surfaces are nitrided. Most cylinder liners require flat top honing.
